World Book Day Thursday 2nd March 2023

Good morning today is World Book Day!

Did you know that by reading to your little one you are teaching them so much. Research confirms that children are introduced to numbers, letters, colours, shapes, as well as helping them build memory and word skills.

In addition by pointing out, touching it also aids motor and social development skills. Its never too early to read to your little one!

The raising children.net. website (2023) gives some great tips, when reading to babies.

-Read slowly and spend time on each page after you read the words, letting your baby focus on words and pictures.

-Point out and name familiar and new things your baby sees on the pages.

-Change the tone of your voice as you read. This helps your baby to pick up on different speech sounds.

-Hold your baby close or on your knee while you read, so your baby can see your face and the book.

Have a great day and happy reading!

Verity x
